School is out!!! Before you head out to canadian tire to buy cleaning supplies to clean up your house and then pack up and head off to the cottage…read this blog!! I was at canadian tire the other day walking down the cleaning section and noticed a mother with a stroller and two babies. She had a product in her hand and she was reading the label and put the product in her cart and walked away. The product she was looking at is called SIMPLE GREEN. Now before i start on how horrible this product is, i just want to say that there are so many cleaning products which are labeled “green” on the shelves of our stores. You can find these products at your local walmart, canadian tire, pharmacy or grocery store. Every brand has come up with a green, more eco-friendly version of itself and all these products are making their way into our homes with a glamourized “new look” . Mom’s are all over this!! We all want green products in our homes which are safer for a our kids and pets! So back to the SIMPLE GREEN all purpose cleaner. This product labels itself as Green and Eco-friendly and safe but it is the complete opposite. This cleaner contains an ingredient called 2-butoxyethanol and basically this can get into your skin and kill red blood cells…and harm your immune system. WHAT??? NO WAY right?! There are so many products like this being sold as healthy and green but they are most definitely NOT! So I went up to this mom and I informed her of the product and she was so happy, she shook my hand and thanked me and I offered her some alternatives for cleaning products.
