Ottawa House Cleaning, Mold and Mildew Control

Summer is here and the days are hot hot!! This is the time of year where we struggle with high humidity levels in the home, especially in the bathrooms where the AC vents are not always placed and ventilation is poor. I get a lot of questions from customers about how to effectively reduce moisture build up in the bathrooms and how to prevent mildew and mold. If you have Enviropure home cleaning in your home on a regular basis then we will do our best to stay on top of this. With regularly cleaning your tubs and showers and ensuring that all areas are thoroughly dried, this could significantly reduce moisture build up. Here are some of our tips and recommendations for mold and mildew control in the home.

* In the cooler months, if you have a bathroom window, keep it open in order to allow steam and moisture to escape the bathroom.
*In the hotter months, place a fan on the bathroom floor pointing toward the shower area and have it oscillating.
*Make sure to completely dry walls and tub after showering.
*Replace your lightbulbs in the bathroom regularly to brighter bulbs because dimly lit areas are breeding grounds for mold spores.
*Clean bath and shower on a regular basis. Any dirt in those areas could provide ways for mold to feed and grow.

So although most of these tips are common sense, I do get a lot of questions on this topic so I wanted to address this concern by writing a blog. If you are dealing with mold and mildew problems in your home, give us a call and see what we can do to help. Always remember that mold spores can spread, so it is important to tackle this problem early on.
